Sun Shines Through.

Early start and the sun was trying its best to brighten up a cold morning and as these pictures show it eventually did.

Shade To Grey.

We were out early to be greeted by a very dull damp day, at this time of  year I would be expecting a  much colder start,  but still it was nice to be out and about and I am sure the crisp early morning frosts will be with us soon enough.

Next Stop Winter.

As we head towards winter the autumn colours are still very much in evidence, the mild weather of the last few weeks has seen the tree's keeping their leaves a lot longer but the first mists of the colder season are starting to carpet the low lying open spaces.

A Zoom With A View

The mild weather continues to surprise us all and there seems to be more to come in the short term at least.
You may just be able to see a very health looking pigeon in the third photo, don't think he is a tenant of the 2 desres pictured.

Late Autumn Sun.

Since the last update we have seen the end of October and the start of November, the first early morning frost and some very dull days, so it was a surprise to see the sun breaking through the canopy of the woods for a while.

New Season On Its Way.

Walking today I saw lots of natures ongoing preparation for the new season to come, birds readying themselves for migration, others paying us a short visit on their journey south, squirrels franticly building up their winter food store, tree's shedding their final leaves.

Ardea Cinerea

After our last walk when I finally got a reasonable photo of a heron we set off today under heavy skies with nothing more in mind than a pleasant walk and any photo opportunities that came along. On the way home we were walking along side the canal when I saw a heron much further along the bank, at the distance it was I didn't even think of bothering to get the camera ready as I thought it would be away well before we got anywhere near to him, we were getting closer and closer and he didn't seem bothered, at that stage I took the first photo, then a few more, at one point we were only about 12 feet away from him, a privilege.

The rain seems to be heading our way.

Nice to get so close to one of these fantastic birds.

Strike the pose

And then he was off.

Big Bird.

Out on a morning walk with Alfie, we rounded a corner to find this big bird looking for his breakfast.

After the unexpected viewing of the first heron, later on we saw this one leaving a small pond.

Change In The Weather

After a quiet few weeks of nothing much happening I find myself with a few days off  work and a welcome house guest Alfie so of course off we go for a walk..

Not a good start to the day.

OK guys you know your target.

A sure sign of the changing season.

Autumn is on its way

I am not an angler but if I was I would certainly fish here.

I think that this means it is going to be a good day tomorrow.

Walk's It All About Alfie.

Water Off A Ducks Back.

An unexpectedly nice start to the day called for a early morning walk.
