The Elusive Woodpecker

Walking through the woods this morning I heard my first woodpecker of 2012, I could tell it was high up in the trees, but could not see it.  Will have to keep a lookout when next we walk this way and see if I can get a decent picture.

Is there a better time to go for a walk than early on a bright frosty morning, I don't think so, my idea of heaven, so off we went, me and my little mate Alfie and what a spirit uplifting couple of hours it was, on mornings like this everybody you meet along the way seems to be in a happier mood as well.

Quieter Weather.

After the gales of the last week or so today was mild in comparison, although damp and overcast.
When we arrived at the woods there was plenty of evidence of just how strong those gales had been. The foresters have been very busy tidying up.
