Ardea Cinerea

After our last walk when I finally got a reasonable photo of a heron we set off today under heavy skies with nothing more in mind than a pleasant walk and any photo opportunities that came along. On the way home we were walking along side the canal when I saw a heron much further along the bank, at the distance it was I didn't even think of bothering to get the camera ready as I thought it would be away well before we got anywhere near to him, we were getting closer and closer and he didn't seem bothered, at that stage I took the first photo, then a few more, at one point we were only about 12 feet away from him, a privilege.

The rain seems to be heading our way.

Nice to get so close to one of these fantastic birds.

Strike the pose

And then he was off.

Big Bird.

Out on a morning walk with Alfie, we rounded a corner to find this big bird looking for his breakfast.

After the unexpected viewing of the first heron, later on we saw this one leaving a small pond.

Change In The Weather

After a quiet few weeks of nothing much happening I find myself with a few days off  work and a welcome house guest Alfie so of course off we go for a walk..

Not a good start to the day.

OK guys you know your target.

A sure sign of the changing season.

Autumn is on its way

I am not an angler but if I was I would certainly fish here.

I think that this means it is going to be a good day tomorrow.
