Busy Swans.
I normally give these magnificent creatures a wide berth as I have seen how temperamental they can be, these two seemed preoccupied with whatever they were catching underwater, spending long periods with their heads submerged.

Winter Reprise.
Today's walk was like returning to winter, high winds, cold, and rain, even the Canada Geese were hugging the shore of the island to stay out of the wind. That said it was still a very pleasant walk.

The Heron.
Some pictures of the heron we saw catching his supper the other evening, admittedly not the best pictures I have ever taken, but you can see what he is doing. I have seen herons standing on the bank looking down for fish before but never realised they actually went into the water like that.

Charcoal Burnin' Everywhere.
With the spell of glorious weather we are receiving at the moment and in an effort to escape the endless barbecues that tend to happen this time of year we decided to spend the evening next to this lake, apart from the cool breeze and great views as we sat on the bank we had the added attraction of watching an angler pepper the water with his fish bait only to see an industrious moor hen go back and forth across the water, dive down, get the bait and carry it off to his secret lair before the fish even knew it was in the water, oh how we laughed, a very pleasant valley Sunday Friday evening.
